About

Africano Byamugisha brings a rare combination of deep statistical training, advanced data science expertise, and hands-on technology deployment experience — making him a critical bridge between ADRI's research work and the digital tools and systems that power modern evidence-based organisations.

He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science (Data Science & AI) and a Bachelor of Statistics (Statistical Computing) — both from Makerere University — supplemented by professional certifications in Financial Modelling & Valuation (FMVA), Business Intelligence & Data Analytics (BIDA) from the Corporate Finance Institute, and an Applied Data Science Lab credential from WorldQuant University.

Africano currently serves as Manager of MIS & Data Analytics at RDM Africa, where he leads end-to-end data operations — from field data collection to real-time performance dashboards — and manages CRM and MIS systems at scale. His project experience spans mobile money financial inclusion programmes, national research classification systems, credit risk modelling, and climate change impact research.

At ADRI, Africano leads the technology and data analytics dimension of our work — designing and implementing MEL systems, MIS platforms, analytics dashboards, and data operations infrastructure that give our clients real-time visibility into their programmes and research findings.

He is also a published researcher, with peer-reviewed work on PII detection in low-resource languages (ACM IC3-2024), international research collaboration, and NLP-based research classification — demonstrating a commitment to advancing data science practice in the African context.
